Pioneer Museum remains closed

The Pioneer Museum building was constructed in 1908 as the Coconino County hospital for the indigent. Since the early 1960s, it has been an informative site to learn about the history of the area and has been the home of award winning exhibits. The museum and grounds have been bustling with school children learning to dip candles, make rope and witness blacksmithing in person. The grounds have been used for weddings, reunions and meetings. 
None of this has happened for four years. 


Please stay tuned on what is being done to open the museum again - it will certainly be a community effort. Until then, be sure to let those in pubic office know how important it is that our local history be preserved. Letters of support urging the Arizona Historical Society to reconsider cutting the Flagstaff budget can be sent to:
