Riordan Mansion
Riordan Action Network
The house was built in 1904 for two Riordan families who were instrumental in the building of our Flagstaff community. The historic building is an Arizona treasure — a remarkable example of Arts and Crafts style architecture. The Riordan residence was designed by the creator of Grand Canyon’s El Tovar Hotel, Charles Whittlesey.
The Riordan Action Network (RAN) was formed in 2009 to help support the Craftsman gem. Riordan Mansion is a historic site within Arizona State Parks and Trails. All gifts are tax deductible through RAN's fiscal agent, the Northern Arizona Pioneers' Historical Society.
Fort Valley Experimental Station
Friends of Fort Valley
The Fort Valley Experimental Forest Station opened in August 1908, the first USFS Research Station in the nation. Scientists established research study into the life and regeneration of the ponderosa pine. The site is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and contains twelve historic buildings.
The Friends of Fort Valley formed in 2012 to help the US Forest Service preserve the historic Fort Valley Experimental Forest Station near Flagstaff. The Friends are community people who volunteer with grounds keeping and light maintenance at the headquarters. Some Friends also help organize the scientific records and host visiting scholars who wish to access the data which will soon be digitized. In 2013, the Friends joined into a fiscal sponsorship with the Northern Arizona Pioneers Historical Society, a 501(c)3 organization, in order to receive donations for the Fort Valley Experimental Forest Station.
